YOGA FOR CYCLISTS
with MOLLY T.
Sunday OCTOBER 27th
10:30am-11:30am at BARNSDALL ART PARK
Yoga for Cyclists - This course will offer a one-hour instructional yoga sequence that students’ can utilize both before and after a regular cycling routine. Students will learn a series of yoga asanas that will bring awareness to the low back, hamstrings, as well as other trouble areas the sport of cycling can bring about. Students’ will learn proper alignment in each asana position that will increase flexibility and circulation in areas that continually get overworked while cycling; legs, glutes, low-back and the upper body. This practice will also draw attention to the imbalances and weaknesses in our bodies that occur within everyone’s athletic performance over time. Participants will be imparted with tools to equalize and strengthen these imbalances for a better awareness of their bodies so that they can practice them on an individual basis and cultivate a personal practice that can be integrated within their cycling routine.

About the instructor:
Molly Toberer received a 200-hour Register Yoga Teaching certification [200RYT] in 2012 in the Yogaworks Method. This method comprises a blend of Ashtanga, Iyengar, the teachings of Desikachar - as well as a basic foundation in anatomy, philosophy and Ayurveda. Molly is also registered with Yoga Alliance in the United States.
Although new to instruction, her teaching is influenced by her own 20 years of practice in Hatha and Iyengar yoga, which incorporates visual meditation tools for the subtle body. A former competitive soccer athlete and a visual artist, she has embraced a lifelong yoga practice for rehabilitation from injuries and as a tool in finding balance for mind and body to achieve a pain-free and active lifestyle. Her philosophy lies in truly integrating a safe alignment-based yoga practice into any student’s life that will enhance creativity and athletic performance, while valuing the mysterious, mind-healing properties that yoga can bring to anyone. Molly has continued her education since certification by completing specialty workshops in Los Angeles with highly regarded teachers at Yogaworks and the Iyengar Yoga Institute of Los Angeles addressing common issues of low-back pain, meditation, breath work and deepening her own Iyengar yoga practice.
